Army intelligence specialist Fred Whitehurst was tasked with combing battlefields during the Vietnam War to find documents valuable to military intelligence. During a routine burning of captured personal documents in June 1970, his translator handed him a small notebook and said, "Don't burn this one Fred, it already has fire in it."
