A Journalist on the Persecuted Church Beat
Ronald Boyd-MacMillan Tuesday, 1 March 2005
This article addresses an odd paradox that I noticed during the 20 years I worked as a journalist reporting the persecution of Christians worldwide: as the desire and machinery to assist persecuted communities increases, often the interest in, and the use of, reliable information about persecuted communities decreases. It should not be so, but it is. One would expect the Church to prioritize the gathering of reliable intelligence about the embattled brothers and sisters it is anxious to assist. However, strangely it seems that the more nuanced the picture, the less use those who seek to reduce persecution have for it.
