From the Editor: Getting Religion

In the inaugural issue of The Review of Faith & International Affairs, this page lamented the foreign policy establishment's neglect of religion, but also saw signs that scholars and practitioners might be starting to "get" its global resurgence: "The salience of this religious turn is increasingly apparent, in myriad ways—some are painful (from violent religious nationalism to Islamist terrorism), others hopeful (from relief operations to reconciliation centers)."
Three years on, what can we say about the place of religion in the field of international affairs? In some ways, matters are much improved. A cottage industry of religion-and-world-affairs conferences, hearings, publications, media coverage, and foundation grants is emerging. The Review has played a part in these trends, helping fill a gap in the periodical literature.
