George Weigel, The Cube and the Cathedral: Europe, America, and Politics Without God (Basic Books, 2005). 202 pp. $23.00.
George Weigel, a Senior Fellow of the Ethics and Public Policy Center and one of America's foremost Catholic public intellectuals, is a busy man. His engagements are scheduled a year in advance; he is the media's go-to guy when Catholics are in the news; and he manages to write on everything from papal elections to soccer. But Weigel knows the value of contemplation. In the midst of his travels he found time to meditate on what troubles Europe—and the world influenced by Europe. The resulting extended essay, The Cube and the Cathedral: Europe, America, and Politics Without God, was published in 2005, and updated in its paperback release in 2006.
