The "God's Country?" Forum: A Reply

I'd like to begin by thanking the editors of The Review of Faith & International Affairs for providing this opportunity for an extended discussion of some of the questions raised in my recent article in Foreign Affairs. I'm also grateful to the editors for recruiting such a high caliber of responders, and to the responders for taking the subject as seriously as they have.
As I read through the responses, they are concerned with two types of question. There were questions about whether the article captured the forces at work in American evangelical religion today. There were questions about whether my positive assessment of the ability of evangelicals to play a constructive role in American foreign policy was justified.
