Perhaps the single most impressive aspect of Walter Russell Mead's recent article "God's Country?" is that it was published as the lead piece in the September/October issue of Foreign Affairs. Pride of place in this prestigious journal suggests that academic and foreign policy cognoscente finally have come to realize that we are well into a post-secular era—not only in American foreign policy but also in the broader context of contemporary international politics.
