Jumblatt's observation of dynamic change taking place in the Middle East was no doubt meant to reflect recent events and indicators in that region. However, his statement also speaks to social rumblings around the world, especially in America, because it goes without saying that the thermostat in the Middle East currently sets the temperature for the entire world. Events in the Middle East are impacting our political life, but they are also impacting our churches, both in pulpit and pew.
