A few decades ago, a talk on religion and foreign policy most likely would have been met with incredulity or derision. Everyone knew with unreserved certainty that religion was on its way out. Yet today we find ourselves in a world where religion seems to matter and where its expected disappearance has not materialized. In fact, religion is on the rise, both demographically and in the public consciousness. In particular, three religious demographic trends merit closer scrutiny as we consider U.S. foreign policy.
