Spiritual Therapy for Drug Rehabilitation: The Case of Yunnan

For historic and geographic reasons, China's Yunnan Province has been heavily afflicted with drug problems since the 1980s. The number of drug users has grown rapidly, causing a chain of social problems, among the most harmful of which is the spread and impact of AIDS. Faced with the contamination of drug use and social evils, the government authorities have taken highly focused measures such as compulsory rehabilitation treatments. However, due to social and psychological reasons, these measures have had limited success; there is a high rate of re-addiction.
