Singapore is a secular island city-state, yet it has a vibrantly religious society. Indeed, despite growing urbanization and industrialization, the degree of religiosity has steadily increased among Singapore's multi-religious and multi-racial population. Today, 86 percent of the population of some 4.68 million professes a religious faith, with the breakdown as follows:
