Galen Carey:
Mark, you quoted from Paul and his Epistle to the Romans and said that the authorities are God's ministers for our good. In the context of what we're talking about—immigration and security—do you think our authorities would serve our good by keeping immigrants here and making them come in a more orderly way? If so, should they be allowed in the same numbers or in lesser numbers?
Mark Tooley:
Well, I wouldn't claim that the scriptures offer any specific clinical guidance on what the immigration policies of our nation or any nation should be at any given point in history. They offer broad principles, which we as Christians ought to try to apply our policies.
