This is an edited and abridged transcript of a presentation and panel discussion with Galen Carey, Carol Swain, James R. Edwards, Jr., and Richard Land, moderated by Michel Martin.

Michel Martin:

I'm going to start with the core disagreement that we have heard play out here: How do we treat the least of these, as the scripture says? And does an expansive immigration policy suppress wages for our most vulnerable workers or not? If you have a population of 11-12 million workers who are here without a proper authorization, and if you have an impoverished population of about 12 million people, then aren't they competing in the same labor pool?
