J. Brady Anderson

Ambassador J. Brady Anderson is an investor in small businesses and a consultant in international affairs. He serves as Vice Chairman of the Board of the Institute for Global Engagement. He is Vice Chairman of the Board of World Vision (Seattle, WA) and Chairman of the Board of the Wycliffe Bible Translators (Orlando, FL).

Upon graduation from Rhodes College in Memphis in 1967, he was an officer onboard a U.S. Navy destroyer, earning the Vietnam Service Medal and the Navy Commendation Medal. A graduate of the University of Arkansas School of Law, he served as an assistant to Attorney General and Governor Bill Clinton. He and his wife, Betty, for five years conducted sociolinguistics research in African languages for the Summer Institute of Linguistics. In Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, they assisted the Ethiopian Ministry of Education in the creation of a national bilingual education program in seventeen languages. In 1994 President Clinton appointed him to be the United States Ambassador to Tanzania and subsequently to be the Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Washington. He was also appointed to be Chairman of the Board of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation.
