Carol Lee Hamrin

Dr. Carol Lee Hamrin is an expert on contemporary Chinese social and cultural change, as well as U.S.-China relations. She is a research professor at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, and has taught at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). She became the senior China research specialist at the Department of State through 25 years of public service, where she earned the esteemed Secretary of State's Career Achievement Award. In 2003, she received the Center for Public Justice Leadership Award for outstanding public service. A Chinese affairs consultant, she serves as a Senior Associate with the Global China Center, Charlottesville, Virginia, and advises other nonprofit organizations supporting social services in China.
